The London Guardian (Sept. 20, 2012) — Morocco is moving to renewable energy in order to break its current dependence on fossil fuel and electricity imports. By 2020, the country plans to obtain 42% of its power from its own sources of wind, solar and hydro energy. Solar power plants are to be built in the deserts around Ouarzazate and will be powering homes by 2014.
